What is your favourite room in your house?
I saw a post that asked what is your favourite room in your house? I've been thinking about this since I saw the post, so I thought I'd do a post about this.
My favourite room in my house is my bedroom, which is the answer to most people. Most people love their bedrooms because it's the one room in the house that is all theirs. Where they can go to unwind, relax, de-stress and enjoy some quiet time all alone. Plus, you can decorate your room to exactly how YOU want it. It doesn't have to match the rest of the house. It's all yours. Your bedroom should be a reflection of who you are. At least, that's what I think.
My bedroom is a complete reflection of who I am, what I do, what I love... you can learn a lot about me just from looking around my bedroom.
I have a nice King size bed with a brown headboard, a nice Paris France comforter, many pillows and really soft throw blankets and a Dumbo stuffed toy.
I have an end table next to my bed with a parrot lamp my middle son gave me for Christmas. I just adore that lamp, it's very unique. My table also holds a wax melt holder, my medications, drinks like water or coffee and books.
I have photos all over my room of Eiffel Towers, a world map written in French from the 1800's, many various photos of Paris France, the Catacombs of Paris and not much else. You can tell I just LOVE Paris France.
You'll also find many Eiffel tower figures, French plates, figurines, dolls and so much more! I am a collector of many things Paris France. I do want to go there one day and I WILL go there one day.
I am a writer, author and love books so I collect all of my favourite books. I really like old books; I love the feel, smell and sound of them as you turn their delicate pages. I collect Anne Rice books and books on Marilyn Monroe, Paris France and anything that really interests me.
I don't think a room is a room without having books in them. No Ereaders here for me.
You'll also see dried and fake flowers in my bedroom and at times, live flowers. I really like pink roses. They're my favourite.
I have so much jewellery, so of course you're going to find jewellery boxes! I have 4. I buy a lot of rings, have a ton of necklaces and a few bracelets and countless earrings as I have my ears pierced 4 times each.
I have a table by one of my 3 windows set up to do my nails, hair and makeup. I have over 70 different nail polish colours! I don't have a ton of makeup as I don't wear it a lot any more but, I do have a lot of hair styling products, mostly for shine, gloss and hair care. I don't use gel or hairspray and don't usually blow dry it or curl it. I do dye it blonde all the time though.
Of course, because I am a writer you're going to find all kinds of writing things in my bedroom. Sometimes at night, I'll write in my journals; so I can leave them for my kids when I pass on. None of this computer letter bullshit. It's more personal to write hand written letters, notes and journals.
I also have a desk set up by another one of my windows, it over looks my back yard where I can see my kids and dogs as they play. My desk has coffee, note pads, sticky notes, a shelf with all kinds of things on it and of course my Chrome book.
I have one wall dedicated to my many various dreamcatchers. My kids started to collect them for me so when I see one I really like, I now add it to that one wall. It should in reality be just by or above my bed, hence the name; dreamcatcher but, I have them between my closet and bathroom. From all of my Paris pictures I really have no room above or near my bed.
I have an area rug on my floor, a sheep skin rug just in front of my black dresser, another lamp that says, "Bonjour" and many candles, more wax melt holders and a TV on my other dresser.
That's pretty much my bedroom. I love this space because, it's a reflection of who I am, what I love and where I can do any and all of my writing in almost complete privacy. Plus, it's where I go to relax, unwind, de-stress and watch TV, and movies, snuggled in my king size bed with my kids. It's a GREAT room!!
What is your favourite room in your house? How is it decorated and why??
