Boho bedroom decor DIY
Boho bedroom decor: DIY
I have always been very hipster, boho, gypsy, hippy in my bedroom decor. I've loved the style for a very long time and always wanted to do my entire bedroom that way. I've finally been able to do that and I am so excited!!
I thought it would be a lot more expensive and harder to do my bedroom in this decor but, I've found it to be almost totally FREE and so easy to find things to decorate. I've been hitting up thrift stores, the church in my town that hosts a FREE item day every Wednesday. They have everything from home decor, kitchen items, bedding, clothes, kids toys and clothes, EVERYTHING and it's all TOTALLY FREE!!
I started with my bed. I made a homemade canopy with curtains and scarves. I remember from the movie Lost Boys with Corey Haim and Keifer Sutherland the female half-vampire, Star had a cool bed with scarves and such, I loved her bed. So I sort of stole that idea. It has worked out really well.
I went to the dollar store, bought some hooks for the ceiling, attached the curtains to the hooks to create a canopy. Then hung the scarves from the curtains. Cost me less than $10!!! I was so pleased. I am always a thrifty shopper. If I can get it for cheap or free, I will, then I have more money for other things I need or want. *wink wink*.
Pintrest has been my best friend in this for ideas of how to decorate my bedroom. I had a bunch of records I wasn't using so I searched Pintrest for ideas of how to use them as decor.
This is what I came up with from ideas on Pintrest for my records. Don't worry, no records were harmed in the making of this wall art. *wink*. I think it looks pretty cool. The records I bought from the thrift store for $1 each!! I think I spent between $12 and $15 I can't remember. Either way, it was cheap. I did not get any of the scarves I used at the thrift store in town, they were overpriced for what I wanted to do with them. I went to a cute store in Nanton Alberta, they were only $1 each there.
After that, I went back to Pintrest for ideas of what to do with all the fake flowers I have just sitting around. One photo showed someone had taken the bouquets apart and put each flower on their walls.
The flowers on this wall are real dried ones I had. On my other wall you can't see the fake flowers I did the same with because of the curtains, scarves and canopy on my bed. If you're on my bed, however, you can see them and they look really nice.
Doing boho, hippy, hipster, gypsy decor is so fun and easy!
