HARRY POTTER-INSPIRED DINING ROOM
Today, I’m sharing a before and after tour of the dining room from my Harry Potter-inspired house.
As you can see, the big changes in this space included the flooring (same as the entire first floor of this home, so the spaces flow together), painting the walls white, and swapping out the light fixture. They decided to get a light fixture that felt more like a chandelier made of candles. They were trying to find something that mixed the modern feeling They were going for with something that could maybe be found in the great hall at Hogwarts.
And since this is a five-bedroom home, it’s entirely possible there will be large groups staying there. So they wanted to get as big of a dining table as they could without it feeling impossible to move around in the space (as you have to exit out those back doors to get to the pool).
They added a collection of hanging bird cages with (faux) owls in one corner. They call it the Owlery. They also found this really fun tapestry that made me think of Professor Trelawney. The rug they choose is for both indoor and outdoor as they have a feeling wet feet from the pool area may walk across it from time to time. And they don’t know if you can really see it all that well, but we added a few board games and card games to the side table storage for groups to enjoy.
I would have added a skull and candles as a centerpiece to the kitchen table and instead of the Psychic reading tapestry, I would have hung a Harry Potter one. On the black table, I would have added a little something from each of the Harry Potter houses.
