PISSED at the lack of CARE by the doctors here!!!
I had my son in the clinic the other day because he takes medications for his ADHD, he takes two different medications daily, has been for some time now. Lately, he's been complaining that his heart is beating too fast, he's short of breath, light-headed and his heart hurts.
I called the clinic and was able to get him on the same day. The doctor listened to his heart, asked us a bunch of questions and sent us to the hospital for an EKG. The man that did the test told me that they'd call me the following morning with the results. He also said if my son's heart goes over 130, bring him back.
Today was the following day and I waited for that phone call. By 11 am when no one called, I called the clinic, asked about his results. The receptionist said she'd have the doctor call me TODAY. Well, by 2:30 pm when I STILL had not received a call, I called AGAIN, no one answered so I left a kind of angry, disappointed message, requesting a callback. NOTHING!
I don't know what right these doctors have disregarding their patience but it's not okay. It's disrespectful. You can't say you're going to make a call to a worried parent and just blow them off. Because today is Friday, I have to wait until Monday to find out what's going on; IF they call me. I won't wait all day this time. I will go in and demand the results. I have every right to know what is going on with my son's health; good or bad. Don't just leave me hanging, worried. Have some respect.
It makes me angry because this is in regards to my 12-year-old son's heart. When someone this young complains their heart hurts, these doctors should take it a bit more seriously. I don't care if the results say there is nothing wrong, at the least tell me so I am not worried there is something really wrong with my child.
Don't the doctors have some book of ethics they have to follow? Some kind of rules? They aren't the over rulers of everything medical. It takes five minutes out of your day to make a call to a parent you told you'd call. If you can have an HOUR or MORE for lunch, take some of that time to make your calls. Eat lunch at your desk if you have to. This stress of not knowing I am sure is worse than knowing. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON!!!
You'd think to live in a smaller town the doctors would be faster at returning calls and being on top of their patient care. But oh, no of course not! I will be on top of this one way or another Monday, if I have to take my son back to the hospital and override the doctor at the clinic I will and if there turns out there is something seriously wrong with my son and this doctor neglected to inform me, I will be contacting a lawyer ASAP!! When it comes to the health of my children, I don't fuck around.
