Pain in the...back
Back pain is the worst. I've had some pretty severe back pain that also shoots down my hips and legs. It's really uncomfortable and a real pain in the ass!! No pun intended.
I've started to get this pain back when I was diagnosed with T2 diabetes. I've complained to my doctor about this several times and he keeps giving me more and more pills that do nothing! I've tried 3 or 4 different medications from my doctor, 2 or 3 different creams and several medications and creams I can buy myself from the pharmacy.
The pharmacist has told me to go back to my doctor and tell him that these things aren't working, to give me something stronger.
I've found that the doctors where I live, aren't always the easiest to deal with. They tend not to listen, ignore your pain, complaints and or think they know better but, no one knows your body better than YOU do! So, I've started to be a bit aggressive with my doctor, forcing him to listen to me and do things to help me more.
I have an appointment today with my doctor for the pain and I will be getting something for this. I can't be left to be so uncomfortable, in pain and annoyed because of this. It's affecting my way of life. There's days it's hard to walk, sit, stand, lay down. Days I just cannot get comfortable no matter what I do or how I position my body.
The last time I saw my doctor, he gave me 3 months off work and I had to fight him to get these new medications for my diabetes that my pharmacist and nurse said I should be taking. My doctor didn't want to give them to me, he wanted to leave me with high blood pressure (153/90) that's dangerously high! And leave me with high cholesterol and not add Ozempic, the weekly needle my body apparently needs. He said he "wasn't comfortable" giving these things to me. So, I told him to "read the damn notes the pharmacist and nurse left for him in my file." He didn't even LOOK until I told him to! Like, WTF is WRONG with this guy?!
I don't know how you can call yourself a doctor if you're not willing to listen to your patient, take them seriously or read notes left to you from other medical professionals working with your patient, medical professionals you TOLD your patient to go and see!!! Why tell your patient to go see these people if you're not going to take the advice they're giving your patient?! You have to work together as a unit, if not, your patient is NEVER going to get well.
I'll make another post later or update this one with how my appointment with my doctor goes.
I post these things hoping that anyone who is also struggling with T2 diabetes the same way I am, learns from me and does what I am doing.
NEVER GIVE UP!!! You are in control of your body. Your body is your temple and YOU and ONLY YOU know you're body best. Don't let doctors push you around. Stand up for yourself and push them to listen to you.
