COVID 19 AND LOCK DOWN.
Hey there, hope you are all? I hope everyone is safe and healthy!
I am doing well health-wise being caged up at home with my family. We live in a small farming community in Alberta Canada, where the COVID 19 virus hasn't hit us yet, thank God! It is however around us in the larger cities. Because we live in a small town we don't have a lot of things that the cities have so we have to leave town a lot to get things. Such as, there are no stores to shop at besides The Bargain shop for clothing and toys and they aren't very good and don't have a large selection. We have ONE grocery store and because of this stupid COVID 19 virus, the shelves haven't been stocked as they used to be. We do have one pet store but some of the items there are highly overpriced. So because of this we're having to leave town to go to the city. (We usually travel to Lethbridge instead of Calgary because it's closer and not as big or busy as Calgary. I don't like Calgary because of how busy it's become which is funny because I was born there and raised there for some time lol).
When we go to Lethbridge we almost always go to Costco, Walmart and PetSmart and Bianca's Liquidation. These stores always have everything we need. Bianca's always has a large selection of clothing for my whole family at amazingly low prices! I don't buy toys there because they're always knock offs and never last long. (Think dollar store toys). Costco was a shit show last time I was there! They had almost NO meat once so ever and their butcher shop was EMPTY! It was a really disturbing sight and honestly, almost made me cry because people are hoarding food and fear buying things they don't actually need! They aren't leaving anything for anyone else to buy. Costco's toilet paper section was EMPTY as well!! I was so upset to see all of this! We had to go to 4 different stores just to get the groceries we needed for our family!
We're supposed to try and stay home and not go to a lot of places to stop the spread of the COVID 19 virus but how are we supposed to do that if other people are buying everything?! I have never had to shop at 4 different stores just to get the items I need for my family. PLEASE STOP FEAR SHOPPING and please LEAVE THINGS for other people!! Stop being so fucking GREEDY!!
I have 3 kids at home and my daughter has 2 very young kids in her home. Forcing us to shop at 4 different stores is completely unfair. It's raising the chances of her and I contracting the COVID 19 virus more than usual! Of course, we're wearing masks and gloves and sanitizing like crazy but that doesn't mean we won't get it. I have diabetes and other health issues, some with my lungs so if I catch this virus I am really afraid it will hospitalize me and or KILL me!! So I am BEGGING people to STOP over shopping for things they don't need! Leave some for others, stop being PIGS and HOARDING things you don't need!!
With everything shutting down and being locked up I am getting really fucking BOARD not being able to go do things we used to do. My kids used to go to church every Sunday now they can't. My kids used to go swimming every Saturday and now they can't. They also used to go to Parcor every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights for an hour and a half and now they can't! They can't even go to the park to burn off some energy! It's insane. Luckily they have been homeschooled for a long time, they're used to not having to go to school each day but they are NOT used to being caged up like an animal. They are bored and getting angry they can't go out and do things. They can only watch TV and play video games for so long before they get annoyed. besides that, with them locked inside all the time, it's getting EXPENSIVE to buy them video games, game cards and Visa cards for their games. My older son who is 14 has a really expensive hobby with his XBOX ONE right now. He likes to play Minecraft and Apex. He's a huge gamer, he was #1 in Canada for Apex at one point. I bought him a $200 keyboard and mouse combo for his Xbox one the other day and a new controller. Plus a Game pass. Xbox is NOT a cheap system to have. I personally like PS3 and PS4 better. You don't have to buy these game passes and such to play each month. My other son who is 12 likes playing Roblox so he's always wanting game cards to buy new items and that gets expensive too! My youngest son who is 11 has a PS3 and doesn't ask for cards or games. He doesn't really care. He plays Saints row and GTA 5. He's very happy playing those two games, thank God!
I have bought myself a few games for the PS4 in the last few weeks. I bought Sinking city which I didn't end up liking and I bought We happy few which I LOVE! It's twisted and really fun. I play it at night for a bit when the kids are in bed and it's quiet in the house. If you haven't played it, you really have to give it a try!
My two son's (the 11 and 12-year-olds) made some cupcakes last night and decorated them. We used some icing, added all kinds of different things on top to make them look cute. We made some bear ones, I made a sunflower and a lion, they turned out to look really cool! We did this out of being bored and because we like to do these things plus, they can use it as some of their homeschooling for life skills. They are with Wisdom homeschooling which I have found to be the BEST one in Alberta, They're very low key and relaxed on what the kids do. They give the parents FULL choices in what the kids learn. They don't force classes on the kids and don't force them to do things by a certain deadline. The kids can learn at their OWN pace! Our facilitator is really great! She's very lax on the kids and really friendly.
I am however running out of things to do with the kids. We can't go on outings or field trips because of this COVID 19. It's really frustrating.
I have read that this can go on for TWO YEARS in Alberta which is CRAZY! It hasn't even really begun to hit us hard yet here because we're so widespread. Our cities and towns aren't close together, so it's taking longer for the virus to spread here BUT, people are NOT listening to the washing and sanitizing of their hands. People are STILL coughing into their HANDS and touching things right after. I saw a man cough directly into his hand then go and touch store door handles and things inside the store! I saw a lady at Walmart PICK HER NOSE then go and touch all of the fresh fruit! There was a couple in Lethbridge drinking Slurpees inside Bianca's liquidation then setting their cups on shelves inside the store! Just leave them for someone else to touch. I see people in the stores NOT wearing masks or gloves and touching everything. Maybe 1 in every 15 people wears a mask and or gloves. I wear them EVERY time I go into a store and if I bring my kids out, they wear them too! People may look down on me for bringing my kids out but they can't be locked up in cage-like animals so I bring them every once in a while but I make them wear masks and gloves and sanitize the shit out of their hands and faces after and of course soon as we get home, I make them change their clothes so I can wash the ones they wore outside right away. (I also change right away and wash my clothes soon as we get home). Better safe than sorry!
I hope this COVID 19 ends quickly. I am sick of not being able to do things or go places and my kids not being able to do the activities that they love. I hope people won't take things for granted after this and will have a better understanding of life. At how precious our lives are and how quickly it can all be taken away!
Be safe everyone, don't forget to WASH your hands, SANITIZE, wear your MASKS and GLOVES and for fuck sakes do NOT throw you dirty gloves on the ground! That doesn't stop the virus any faster doing that!
